Fourteen former international cricket captains, including legendary Kapil Dev, have written a letter to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, expressing serious concern over former Pakistani cricket captain Imran Khan’s health.
Global Cricket Leaders Voice Concern
The letter, drafted by former Australian captain Greg Chappell, carries signatures of cricket icons such as Michael Atherton, Allan Border, Sunil Gavaskar, Nasser Hussain, Clive Lloyd, and others. The captains highlighted that reports of Khan’s health, particularly his vision while in custody, have deeply worried them.
Imran Khan’s Contributions Highlighted
The former captains praised Khan’s contributions to cricket, recalling his leadership in guiding Pakistan to the historic 1992 World Cup victory. They emphasized that as one of the finest all-rounders and captains, Khan has earned respect from teammates, opponents, and fans worldwide.
Urgent Medical Care Requested
The letter urged the Pakistani government to provide Imran Khan with immediate, proper, and continuous medical attention.
Medical Update
A two-member medical board examined Khan’s eyes at Adiala Jail on 15 February 2026. His right eye vision improved from 6/24 to 6/9 with glasses, while his left eye reached 6/6. Inflammation in the right eye decreased, and the board recommended eye drops Niwanac, Systane Ultra, and Cosopt for treatment.
The letter and medical updates underscore the growing international concern for the former cricket star’s well-being.
