Shahbaz Sharif Calls for Sustainable Peace in Gaza at Inaugural Peace Board Meeting

WASHINGTON: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that achieving sustainable peace in Gaza is Pakistan’s mission and highlighted the right of Palestinians to an independent and sovereign state as essential for long term stability.

Addressing the inaugural Gaza Peace Board meeting, chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump Shahbaz Sharif described participation in the session as a privilege. He said the day marks a historic moment for Middle East peace and expressed hope for successful efforts to establish lasting stability in Gaza.

The Prime Minister stressed that Palestinian rights should be ensured in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and called for an end to ceasefire violations in Gaza. He praised President Trump’s timely intervention in defusing tensions between Pakistan and India noting that it prevented potential large scale conflict and saved thousands of lives.

Shahbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote durable peace uphold Palestinian sovereignty, and strengthen international mechanisms for conflict resolution highlighting the unique role of the Gaza Peace Board in ensuring actionable outcomes through multilateral cooperation.
