Ahmedabad: South Africa delivered a commanding performance to defeat India by 76 runs in a Super Eight Group One match of the ICC T20 World Cup. The match was played in Ahmedabad, where South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first.
Batting confidently South Africa posted an imposing total of 187 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. David Miller led the charge with a well crafted 63 while Dewald Brevis contributed 45 runs. Tristan Stubbs added further momentum with a brisk 44.
India’s bowlers struggled to contain the scoring, though Jasprit Bumrah claimed three wickets, and Arshdeep Singh picked up two.
In response India’s batting lineup faltered under pressure. Wickets fell at regular intervals preventing any meaningful partnerships. Shivam Dube was the top scorer with 42 runs, but lacked support from the rest of the batting order.
India were eventually bowled out for 111 in the 19th over, sealing a comprehensive victory for South Africa. The win significantly boosts South Africa’s standing in the Super Eight stage while India will need to reassess their performance after a disappointing collapse.
