Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has revealed that young cricketer Aina Wazir will not continue playing cricket due to security concerns faced by her family. Speaking on the program Spot Light on Aaj News, the governor said the family is deeply frightened under the current circumstances.
Kundi shared that he had planned to invite the talented girl from Waziristan to Peshawar and intended to request Mohsin Naqvi to facilitate proper training opportunities for her. He believed that with professional coaching and institutional support, Aina Wazir could polish her skills and potentially represent Pakistan at the national level.
According to the governor, Aina possesses exceptional talent and had the potential to make the country proud. However, her family has now clearly communicated that she will not return to cricket given the prevailing situation.
During the interview, Kundi also commented on regional security matters, alleging that Afghanistan has provided space to militant elements and has not taken action despite evidence shared by Pakistan.
