The US Justice Department has announced the arrest of Gerald Brown a former US Air Force fighter pilot accused of illegally providing combat aircraft training to Chinese military personnel. Brown 65 was taken into custody in Indiana shortly after returning from China where he had reportedly been since December 2023.
Authorities allege that Brown conspired with foreign nationals to train pilots associated with the Chinese Air Force without securing the required authorization from the US State Department. Officials claim he knowingly engaged in activities that could enhance China’s military capabilities.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the arrest, describing it as part of broader counterintelligence efforts. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the agency remains committed to preventing foreign exploitation of former US military expertise.
Court documents show Brown served 24 years in the Air Force holding sensitive positions linked to nuclear weapons systems and later working as a defense contractor. Investigators say Brown began negotiating a training arrangement in 2023 with Stephen Su Bin previously convicted in a US espionage case.
The case remains under investigation. If convicted Brown could face serious penalties under US national security laws.
