The India national cricket team defeated the England cricket team by seven runs in a thrilling second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to secure a place in the tournament final.
Chasing a massive target of 254 runs, England fought hard but managed 246 runs in their 20 overs, falling just short of victory in the high scoring contest played in Mumbai.
Earlier in the match England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to field first. India responded with an explosive batting performance, scoring 253 for 7 in their allotted overs.
Wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson was the standout performer, scoring an impressive 89 runs. He was supported by Shivam Dube with 43 runs while Ishan Kishan contributed 39 runs. Other contributions came from Hardik Pandya with 27 runs and Tilak Varma with 21 runs.
For England bowlers Will Jacks and Adil Rashid claimed two wickets each.
India will now face the New Zealand national cricket team in the final after New Zealand defeated the South Africa national cricket team in the first semi final. The T20 World Cup 2026 final will be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
