Aleema Khan announces legal action under PECA, accusing government figures of spreading false statements about Qasim Khan
ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan has announced that she plans to file a complaint under Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Uzma Bukhari, accusing them of making false statements regarding Qasim Khan.
Speaking to media, Aleema Khan said the two political figures should feel ashamed for allegedly spreading misinformation about Qasim Khan, the son of former prime minister Imran Khan. She claimed that the statements made in public were misleading and intended to damage reputations.
She added that legal proceedings will be initiated under PECA, arguing that digital platforms were being misused to circulate false narratives. Aleema Khan emphasized that accountability should apply equally to all political actors, regardless of position or affiliation.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in Pakistan, where disputes between opposition figures and government representatives frequently play out on television and social media platforms.
Government officials have not yet issued a detailed response to the latest allegations. However, previous exchanges between the two sides have involved similar accusations over the use of media and online statements to influence public opinion.
Legal experts note that PECA cases often require detailed evidence of intent and digital activity, and such disputes can take time to proceed through investigation stages.
The matter is expected to escalate further as both sides prepare for possible legal and political confrontation in the coming days.
