Yash Raj Films has clarified that its upcoming action thriller, Alpha, will release in cinemas as originally planned, dismissing reports that it would premiere directly on Netflix India. The statement came after industry speculation suggested a major streaming deal worth around ₹215 crore.
A studio spokesperson called the rumours misleading and emphasised that Yash Raj Films does not move projects from its theatrical slate directly to digital platforms. The representative described Alpha as a tentpole project, highlighting its large-scale production visual effects and cinematic appeal.
The film stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role alongside Sharvari, praised as a promising talent. Alpha is part of the studio’s expanding spy universe franchise and marks a rare female-led entry, generating excitement among fans and industry observers alike.
Originally slated for December 25, 2025 the release was postponed to April 17, 2026, to allow extended work on visual effects. With the clarification, audiences can expect to watch the high-octane action spectacle first on the big screen reaffirming Yash Raj Films commitment to theatrical releases amid the growth of streaming platforms.
