BRUSSELS: A15year old student from Belgium has made history by earning a doctoral degree at an age rarely seen in academia highlighting extraordinary intellectual talent and academic dedication.
Laurent Simons widely regarded as one of the world’s youngest prodigies completed a PhD in quantum physics at the University of Antwerp just three months ago. At only fifteen his achievement marks a remarkable milestone in scientific research and human intellectual capability.
His doctoral dissertation titled Bose Polarons in Superfluids and Supersolids, focused on advanced concepts in quantum mechanics and condensed matter physics subjects typically studied by researchers decades older. The accomplishment has drawn admiration from academics and observers worldwide.
Building on this success Simons has now been accepted to the University of Munich where he plans to pursue a second PhD this time in artificial intelligence. His upcoming research project, titled Defeating Aging and Creating a Superhuman aims to explore the intersection of AI biology and human enhancement.
Laurent’s parents expressed pride and gratitude at their son’s achievements, describing his journey as both challenging and deeply fulfilling. They credited his curiosity, discipline and passion for learning as key drivers of his success.
Laurent Simons’ extraordinary academic journey continues to challenge conventional limits of age and education, inspiring a new generation to rethink what is possible in science and innovation.
