Swift reconstruction and enhanced security measures mark a renewed commitment to education and stability in South Waziristan
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Classes have officially resumed at Cadet College Wana after the institution was damaged in a vehicle-borne explosive attack on Nov. 10, 2025, officials said.
The college, located in Wana Tehsil of South Waziristan Lower district, was targeted when assailants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into its main gate. Authorities confirmed that no students were harmed in the incident, though parts of the infrastructure sustained damage.
Following the attack, the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) launched immediate restoration and security enhancement efforts. Within three months, the damaged sections were rebuilt, and additional protective measures were installed to ensure a secure academic environment.
A formal ceremony marking the reopening was attended by Inspector General FC South, Major General Mehar Umar Khan, who met with students and faculty to discuss the importance of education, peace and long-term regional stability.
Local tribal elders and community members welcomed the reopening, calling it a symbol of resilience and unity. Officials said the swift restoration underscores the state’s commitment to safeguarding educational institutions and ensuring continuity of learning in the region.
With students back on campus, academic activities are now fully operational, signaling a return to normalcy in the area.
