Director General ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated in a detailed briefing that there is no distinction between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist elements, asserting that Pakistan’s Operation Ghazab ul Haq is aimed solely at protecting its citizens. He said the international community understands that the operation is being conducted in defense of national security and public safety.
According to the DG ISPR, on the night of February 21 and 22, Pakistani forces targeted hideouts of Fitna al Khawarij near the border. In response, the Afghan Taliban allegedly carried out what he termed a so called action initiating firing across 15 sectors at 53 different locations along the Pakistan Afghanistan border. He maintained that all attacks were effectively repelled and a strong counter-response was delivered.
He further claimed that 274 Taliban regime members and militants were killed and over 400 injured during the operation. Additionally, more than 74 enemy posts were destroyed, 18 posts taken under Pakistani control and 115 tanks and armored vehicles neutralized. Twelve Pakistani soldiers were martyred and 27 injured.
He added that drone attacks in Abbottabad and Nowshera were foiled, and precision strikes were conducted on militant targets in Kabul Paktia and Kandahar. The operation he said will continue until its objectives are achieved.
