Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has strongly condemned Israel’s approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinians.
In a statement, Ashrafi described Israel’s new law targeting Palestinians for execution as extremely regrettable, calling it a reflection of Israel’s brutality.
He highlighted that Al-Aqsa Mosque has been closed for the past 32 days and Palestinians are being arrested. Ashrafi urged the international community to raise its voice against Israel’s oppressive laws and called on the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to play an effective role.
He emphasized that the application of Israeli laws on Palestinians is illegal and stressed that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt should jointly work for peace in the region.
Ashrafi further stated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a pressing need, with Jerusalem as its capital.
It is worth noting that Israel’s parliament (Knesset) recently passed a controversial law allowing the death penalty for Palestinians involved in the killing of Israeli citizens.
