PESHAWAR: (Click Pakistan) The Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is still going on with its auctioning of the personalised vehicle number plate, which is attracting the high profile customers.
The Afreedi 1 plate which had gained a lot of demand sold at 14 million rupees in the recent auction. Javed Afridi, a businessman based in Peshawar became the successful bidder of the plate.
Khan 1 was another popular plate that sold for 11.1 million rupees to provincial assembly member Naik Zaman.
According to the officials, the auctions belong to the effort of the department to raise more money and enable citizens to possess individual and personal number plates.
The reaction of the people has been tremendous, according to an official. More high-value plates are to be sold in the upcoming auctions, as we expect.
It is still popular among collectors and lovers of the province by auctioning personalised plates complete with names, initials and unique mixes. The department has urged willing buyers to be registered in previous bidding rounds in advance.
The project is a trend that is on the rise in the Pakistani urban centres where the number of vehicle registrations has turned into a status and a symbol of prestige.
