Mastung, Balochistan: In a major intelligence-based operation (IBO), the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday neutralised five terrorists belonging to the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army Azad (BLA-A) in the Dasht area of Mastung.
According to CTD officials, credible intelligence had been received regarding the presence of a group of armed terrorists in the area who were planning to block the Quetta Sibi Highway and carry out subversive activities targeting security forces and civilian traffic. Acting on the information, CTD teams swiftly moved into the region and established surveillance.
During the operation, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire upon sighting CTD personnel, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. As a result, five terrorists were shot dead, while several of their accomplices managed to escape by taking advantage of the rugged and mountainous terrain.
Following the encounter, CTD recovered five submachine guns with live rounds, seven hand grenades, and three motorcycles from the site. The slain terrorists could not be immediately identified.
A search and combing operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to apprehend the fleeing militants and dismantle the remaining network. Authorities reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate terrorism and ensure the safety of the public and vital communication routes in Balochistan.
