ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (Retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa was injured after a fall at his residence early Tuesday morning and has been admitted to a hospital in Rawalpindi family sources confirmed.
According to reports General (R) Bajwa slipped in the washroom of his home at approximately 4:30 am. The fall resulted in injuries to multiple parts of his body including a head injury. He was immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Sources close to the family stated that the former army chief is currently under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where doctors are closely monitoring his condition. However hospital authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding his health.
General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa served as Pakistan’s Army Chief from 2016 until November 2022. He was initially appointed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his tenure was later extended for three years during the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
