ISLAMABAD: (Yaseen Hashmi) Pakistan and seven other countries have strongly condemned Israel’s recent actions in the occupied West Bank, calling them illegal and a violation of international law, according to a joint statement issued by their foreign ministers.
The statement, released by Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, criticized Israel’s decisions as attempts to impose unlawful sovereignty over occupied Palestinian territories. The ministers said the measures include expansion of illegal settlements and forced displacement of Palestinians.
The countries stressed that Israel holds no legitimate sovereignty over occupied Palestinian land and warned that its expansionist policies in the West Bank are escalating violence and threatening regional stability.
The joint statement described Israeli actions as a serious threat to the two-state solution and an obstacle to Palestinian self-determination. It reiterated support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers also referenced United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 and the International Court of Justice’s 2024 advisory opinion, both declaring Israeli settlement activities unlawful.
They urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking concrete steps to prevent further escalation and halt Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank.
