Google Launches AI-Powered Offline Dictation App for iOS

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

AI-Powered Offline Dictation App Lets iOS Users Convert Speech into Text Seamlessly

Tech giant Google has quietly launched a new, free dictation application, Google AI Edge Eliconnet, for iOS users. The app represents a major step in artificial intelligence, allowing users to convert speech into high-quality text without an internet connection.

According to TechCrunch, the app relies on Google’s ‘Gema’ models for automatic speech recognition. Once the models are downloaded, users can dictate offline. The interface not only provides live transcription but also features a unique ‘Pause Function’, which removes filler words during conversations to improve clarity. Users can format text into key points, formal, short, or long styles depending on their needs.

Another notable feature is the ‘Cloud Mode’, which, when enabled, enhances text using ‘Gemini’ models. When disabled, all processing occurs locally on the device. Users can also import specific names, technical terms, and keywords from their Gmail accounts.

Currently, the app is available only for iPhone users, but the App Store listing indicates that an Android version will be released soon, working as a default keyboard on smartphones. This April 2026 release is expected to introduce a new dimension in AI dictation tools, offering users a faster, smarter way to convert speech to text.
