Minister says arrangements completed for former premier’s hospital visits under tight security
ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the government will shift incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan to hospital twice in the coming days, including for a scheduled eye injection on Feb. 25 as part of ongoing treatment.
Speaking on ARY News, the Minister said authorities were committed to providing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder with the “best possible medical facilities.” He noted that arrangements had earlier been made to transfer Khan from Adiala Jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences under tight security.
Khan was diagnosed in late January with right central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye condition that raised concerns among his family and party leaders. The issue has fueled political tensions, with the opposition alleging limited transparency and restricted access for his personal doctors — claims the government denies.
Chaudhry said jail doctors had recommended referral to a tertiary care hospital, prompting the earlier visit to PIMS. He added that the state bears full responsibility for Khan’s health while in custody and that invitations would again be extended to PTI representatives, family members and personal physicians for the upcoming hospital visit.
