Government Calls for Public Support as Anti-Polio Campaign Begins Nationwide

Islamabad: (Ayesha Naz) prime Minister’s Focal person for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq on Friday urged parents and communities across Pakistan to fully cooperate with polio teams as the country prepares to release its first nationwide polio vaccination campaign of 2026 from Feb. 2 to Feb. 8.

In a special message issued ahead of the campaign, Farooq stated the countrywide drive aims to vaccinate more than 45 million children underneath the age of five, reaffirming the government’s commitment to completely eradicating polio from Pakistan. She said over 400,000 skilled polio workers will go door to door to administer polio drops and make sure no infant is left unprotected.

Farooq emphasized that parental cooperation is critical to the fulfillment of every campaign, urging households to make certain their children acquire polio drops in the course of each round. She noted that federal and provincial institutions are working in full coordination under the countrywide Emergency Operations center (EOC) to achieve a polio-free Pakistan.

Highlighting the significance of collective duty, she said public aid stays the cornerstone of the anti-polio effort. Farooq also referred to as on religious scholars and the media to play an energetic role in elevating awareness and countering misinformation.
