Islamabad: The medical report of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has been shared with his family on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Friday. The report was sent by the executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to the superintendent of Adiala Jail who subsequently handed it to Khan’s family.
The development follows repeated petitions in the Supreme Court and requests by opposition leaders regarding the health of the former prime minister. Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) has once again approached the apex court seeking full access to Imran Khan’s medical reports, along with the restoration of regular family and legal visits at Adiala Jail.
Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan raised concerns over the jail authorities conduct saying only two brief health notes were presented during a hearing which she described as a disregard for the authority of the Chief Justice of Pakistan. PTI and allied parties submitted a memorandum alleging continuous violations of law and human rights claiming long periods of isolation and restricted access to the former prime minister’s family and lawyers.
The memorandum also highlighted concerns over delays in medical care particularly related to Khan’s eye treatment at PIMS, and alleged non-compliance with court orders issued by the Islamabad High Court.
