Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani has claimed that more than 1,300 Iranian civilians have been killed in attacks carried out by the United States and Israel.
In a statement Iravani said that the strikes had also caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure across Iran. According to him, a total of 9,669 civilian sites have been destroyed so far, including 7,943 residential homes. He alleged that the attacks targeted not only military facilities but also residential neighborhoods and other civilian installations.
The Iranian envoy also confirmed the deaths of four Iranian diplomats following an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The incident reportedly occurred when a hotel was struck during an Israeli aerial attack on March 8.
In an urgent letter sent to António Guterres Secretary General of the United Nations, as well as to the presidents of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly, Iravani provided details of the incident.
According to Iranian media reports the victims included the embassy’s second and third secretaries a military attaché, and a military mission officer who were killed in the airstrike.
