United Nations: New York / Islamabad Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, on Thursday reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people during a briefing at the United Nations Security Council. He strongly condemned Israel’s illegal actions in the West Bank, including annexation attempts, settlement expansion, and declaring Palestinian lands as “state lands.”
Dar emphasized that sustainable peace is impossible without justice and that a resolution cannot be achieved without granting Palestinians the right to self-determination. Pakistan has actively engaged in the Board of Peace to support Palestinian self-determination through a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, enhanced humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and coordinated diplomacy.
Highlighting the significance of ongoing diplomatic efforts under UN Security Council Resolution 2803, Dar called Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire, restrictions on humanitarian aid, and attacks on UN offices unacceptable.
He reiterated Pakistan’s stance on establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital, and emphasized the pivotal role of the Palestinian Authority. Pakistan is ready to play an active role in global cooperation for a two-state solution and peace initiatives, including the Trump administration’s peace efforts and the Board of Peace.
Dar concluded that the only path to just and lasting peace in the Middle East is grounded in international law and the UN Charter.
