Party chief condemns strikes on Iran and urges Pakistan’s leadership to adopt a unified stance
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan has announced nationwide demonstrations on Friday to protest against recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran and express solidarity with the Iranian people.
The decision was shared by JI Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman after a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad, according to a statement issued by the party’s information secretary.
Speaking at a press conference, Rehman strongly condemned the military action, accusing the United States and Israel of targeting Muslim nations and describing their alliance with India as an “evil trinity” working against Muslim interests.
He also criticized a recently formed “Board of Peace,” reportedly initiated by former US President Donald Trump, calling it a misleading initiative and urging the Pakistani government to withdraw from the platform.
During his meeting with the Iranian envoy, Rehman expressed condolences over Iranian leaders reportedly killed in the strikes, including senior figures mentioned in Iranian reports. He assured the ambassador that both the people of Pakistan and Jamaat-e-Islami stand firmly with Iran during the crisis.
Ambassador Moghadam thanked the party for its support and acknowledged its efforts to promote unity in the Muslim world.
Rehman also called on Pakistan’s government and opposition parties to jointly condemn the attacks. He demanded a transparent inquiry into recent firing on protesters outside the US Consulate in Karachi and urged demonstrators to keep Friday’s protests peaceful across all districts.
