Judicial Council to Proceed in Three Cases

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Wednesday dismissed 50 complaints filed against judges while deciding to proceed further in three cases according to an official statement.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi reviewed a total of 59 complaints. Six cases were deferred while deliberations on a draft related to new rules making were postponed until the next session. Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar did not attend discussions concerning complaints against IHC judges while Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Atiq Shah participated as a council member.

Separately, Chief Justice Afridi presided over the 57th meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC) which approved several reform measures. The committee decided to establish within two weeks a complaint mechanism for cases where arrested individuals or missing persons are not produced before a magistrate within 24 hours.

Guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in judicial institutions were also approved, with high courts empowered to develop their own safeguards. The committee further endorsed nationwide e filing and mandatory pre-trial mediation.

Officials reported that over 754,000 cases were disposed of between September 2025 and January 2026, highlighting progress in reducing case backlogs.
