Karachi Roads Closed for Third Day Amid Heightened Security After Violent Protests

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Shipping containers seal key arteries as authorities enforce strict security measures across Karachi

KARACHI: Several major roads in Karachi remained closed for a third straight day on Wednesday as authorities tightened security following violent protests sparked by reports of the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The unrest erupted earlier this week outside the US Consulate, where demonstrations turned deadly. At least eleven people were killed and several others injured, prompting a sweeping security clampdown across the metropolis.

Key arteries near Mai Kolachi Road and PIDC have been sealed with shipping containers and heavy barriers. Strict checks are in place at the railway crossing on Mai Kolachi, where only residents and office workers from Boat Basin are permitted entry upon showing national identity cards. Large contingents of police and Rangers have been deployed.

The PIDC Bridge remains blocked, cutting access to Jinnah Bridge and surrounding routes. Authorities have diverted commuters toward alternative corridors including Clifton Bridge, Metropole, II Chundrigar Road and Saddar.

Traffic congestion has intensified, particularly along II Chundrigar Road, where diversions continue to strain movement. Officials have urged citizens to stay updated via the traffic police helpline 1915 as security forces maintain a citywide alert to prevent further unrest.
