Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Tokayev upon his arrival. The two leaders exchanged greetings and held brief interactions before attending the formal reception ceremony. A well-prepared contingent of Pakistan’s armed forces presented a guard of honor to the visiting president. Tokayev reviewed the guard while the national anthems of both countries were played.
During the ceremony, Tokayev introduced members of his delegation to Shehbaz Sharif, who in turn introduced his cabinet members to the visiting leader. Tokayev also planted a tree on the Prime Minister’s House premises as a symbolic gesture of friendship between the two countries.
Tokayev is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold delegation-level talks with Sharif during his visit. He is also expected to address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
Officials say the visit is significant for reviewing bilateral cooperation, expanding trade and logistics collaboration, enhancing regional connectivity and strengthening people-to-people contacts. The trip reflects growing diplomatic ties, cultural closeness and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability and economic development between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
