Authorities monitor rising water levels as Budni Nullah and Subhan Khwar hit high flow, while major rivers remain largely stable.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Authorities issued a localized flood alert on Tuesday after a rise in water levels was recorded in key nullahs, while major rivers across the province continued to flow within safe limits, according to the 2:00 PM hydrological report.
The Kabul River showed varied water levels, with low flows recorded at Warsak (44,487 cusecs) and Adezai (45,384 cusecs), while Nowshera remained stable at 39,400 cusecs. The Indus River at Attock Khairabad maintained normal water levels at 62,300 cusecs.
Among tributaries, the Swat River at Khwazakhela (5,776 cusecs) and Chakdara (6,145 cusecs), along with the Panjkora River in Dir (7,133 cusecs), recorded normal water levels. Other streams, including Khiali River (9,513 cusecs) and Kalpani Nullah at Risalpur (8,576 cusecs), also remained within safe ranges.
However, Budni Nullah saw a significant rise in water level, reaching 12,700 cusecs, while Subhan Khwar surged to 8,072 cusecs both categorized as high flow. Kalpani at Mardan recorded lower discharge at 12,412 cusecs, and Muqam Nullah remained normal at 1,350 cusecs.
Officials said monitoring of water levels is ongoing, warning that further increases in discharge could elevate flood risks in vulnerable areas.
