Rebuilt schools in Khyber district aim to restore education and counter extremism through modern facilities
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 50 schools in terrorism-affected areas of Khyber district, marking a major step toward restoring educational infrastructure in the region.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi inaugurated the project, which was completed with financial and technical assistance from China at a cost of Rs3.21 billion. According to officials, the project includes the rebuilding and activation of 35 primary schools, seven middle schools, seven high schools, and one higher secondary school.
Authorities said the rehabilitated institutions have been handed over to the Education Department and are now fully operational. The schools are equipped with modern facilities, including solar energy systems, clean drinking water, cooling arrangements, and improved sanitation services. Officials added that thousands of students are expected to benefit from the upgraded learning environment.
Government representatives emphasized that the initiative is not limited to reconstructing damaged buildings but is an investment in the region’s future. They stated that while terrorism once destroyed educational facilities, the government aims to counter extremism through education and development.
