Law enforcement agencies increase surveillance at sensitive locations as public urged to remain vigilant
ISLAMABAD: (Click Pakistan) Security agencies across Pakistan have heightened vigilance following reports that the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) may be planning a wave of suicide attacks targeting religious and public sites.
According to security officials, potential targets include mosques, madrasas, girls’ schools, offices of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), railway stations, Ramzan bazaars and police stations. Authorities did not specify locations but said security has been reinforced in major cities and sensitive districts.
Police patrols have been increased, while intelligence-based operations are ongoing to prevent any possible attack. Officials urged citizens to report suspicious movements, unattended objects or unfamiliar individuals to the nearest police station or emergency helpline.
“We rely heavily on public cooperation during such alerts,” a senior security official said, adding that timely information can help avert tragedies.
There was no immediate confirmation of an imminent attack, but authorities stressed that precautionary measures are necessary given past threats attributed to the TTP.
