Rao Abdul Karim Inspector General of Punjab Police visited the Kachha area of Rahim Yar Khan to take direct command of ongoing operations against armed robbers officials confirmed. During the visit he inspected the Garhi Khair Muhammad Jhak police post and received a detailed briefing from the Punjab Police leadership on the regional security situation.
According to the IG police recovered a large cache of modern and dangerous weapons from criminal groups including rocket launchers mortar shells anti aircraft guns Kalashnikov rifles and significant quantities of ammunition. Authorities said these weapons had been used in attacks on law enforcement personnel.
Officials reported that 68 robbers were killed during the ongoing operation while 97 suspects were arrested in injured condition. Additionally 216 robbers including 15 high profile criminals carrying bounties exceeding Rs100 million surrendered to authorities. The surrendered individuals are being processed under the law.
The IG praised the morale and commitment of police personnel deployed in the Kachha fronts and assured that rehabilitation efforts for affected local communities are underway. The visit was coordinated with regional police officials.
Notably the provincial government introduced a pardon policy two months ago to encourage surrenders. While initially successful recent reports suggest a renewed rise in violence.
