RAWAT: (Yaseen Hashmi) A massive fire broke out at a textile factory in the Rawat Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Rawalpindi, prompting a large-scale emergency response by Rescue 1122 and other firefighting agencies.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, more than 45 rescue workers and at least 13 emergency vehicles were deployed as flames intensified and spread rapidly within the factory premises. The initial response included 10 emergency vehicles and over 30 personnel, but additional resources were called in due to the severity of the blaze.
Rescue Rawalpindi Media Coordinator Muhammad Usman Gujjar said the fire was classified as a major incident, and firefighting operations were continuing without interruption. Firefighters from all areas were instructed to reach the site to assist in controlling the flames.
Additional support was provided by Bahria Fire Service, Islamabad Fire Service and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi to ensure an adequate water supply and technical assistance.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. No casualties were immediately reported, though officials said damage assessments would be carried out once the fire is fully extinguished.
Authorities said rescue teams were working with extreme caution to prevent further spread and ensure safety in the industrial area.
