LAHORE: A 22 year old medical student identified as Fareeha died on Tuesday after falling from the roof of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, in an incident police have described as suspicious and currently under investigation.
The fall occurred from the third floor of the university building during the afternoon. Rescue 1122 teams responded quickly and transported her to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to severe head injuries hospital sources confirmed.
Fareeha, a final year MBBS student was residing in the college hostel and hailed from Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Initial reports suggested she may have been walking on the third floor premises when she felt dizzy and fell though authorities are investigating whether it was accidental or intentional.
Police are collecting evidence and statements to determine the exact circumstances. University officials said Fareeha had been living in the hostel due to family relocation, while sources familiar with her family noted that she had been emotionally distressed following her father’s retirement and move back to Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The tragedy has raised concern among students and staff with officials urging calm while the investigation continues.
