DUBAI: (Yaseen Hashmi) Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi participated in the World Governments Summit in Dubai, where he held high-level meetings with Interior Ministers from the United Arab Emirates and Rwanda to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in security and counterterrorism.
During the summit, Mohsin Naqvi met UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed expanding collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE in law enforcement and modern policing systems. Naqvi emphasized the importance of exchange programs to allow Pakistani law enforcement agencies to benefit from the UAE’s advanced policing practices.
Both sides also agreed to develop joint strategies to counter online extremism and curb terror financing. Officials highlighted the need for enhanced information-sharing and coordinated responses to emerging digital security threats.
In a separate meeting, Mohsin Naqvi held talks with Rwanda’s Interior Minister Dr. Vincent Biruta. The leaders explored avenues to increase institutional cooperation and agreed to strengthen coordination between their respective ministries. Both countries expressed interest in appointing focal persons to streamline communication and facilitate joint initiatives in security and governance.
The meetings underscored Pakistan’s commitment to expanding international partnerships in public safety, law enforcement modernization and counterterrorism efforts.
Separately, Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), visited the ACC headquarters during his stay in Dubai. The visit focused on reviewing administrative matters and ongoing cricket development initiatives under the council.
