ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather warning for heavy rain and snowfall expected in various parts of the country over the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to the NDMA, several districts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sargodha are likely to receive rain, which may also extend to nearby areas. The federal capital, Islamabad, is also expected to experience heavy rainfall during the same period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is forecast for most districts, while snowfall is expected in the higher mountainous regions. Areas likely to receive snowfall include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Naran, Kaghan, and the Galiyat region.
The NDMA has warned that rain and snowfall may lead to slippery roads, reduced visibility, and possible traffic disruptions, especially in hilly areas. Travelers have been advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement during adverse weather conditions.
Rescue services and road maintenance authorities have been directed to remain on high alert to respond to any emergency situations. The NDMA said it is ensuring timely dissemination of early warnings to the public and relevant departments to minimize risks and ensure public safety.
