GWADAR: (Rashid Bugti) The annual Gwadar Expo took place in Pakistan on Tuesday attended by the high-ranking government officials, the business fraternity and the masses at large as the officials underscored the increased role that Gwadar will play in the economic future of the country.
Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, was present with the senior military back-up, the local representatives, and great number of citizens. The membership of the members of the national and international business communities was high which highlighted the growing interest by investors in the coastal city.
The expo speakers spoke of the current year being a possible turning point in the Pakistani economy with Gwadar being a significant contributor to the economy in terms of trade, connectivity and foreign investment. The authorities observed that the strategic position of Gwadar has positioned it well within the limelight of the international business and maritime fraternity.
Noor ul Haq Baloch, the Chairman, Gwadar Port Authority gave a comprehensive briefing about the Gwadar Port development, current infrastructure development and investment prospects. He stressed that the investments in the port operations, logistics and connectivity in the region would generate new employment opportunities and enable sustainable economic growth.
According to organisers, the purpose of the annual expo is to market Gwadar as a regional trade destination and bring more confidence among the investors. Respondents were optimistic that the further development could assist in the integration of Gwadar into the global supply chains and make the country prosperous in the long run.
