ISLAMABAD: (Yaseen Hashmi) The United States has agreed to Iran’s request to change the venue of the proposed talks, with negotiations now set to take place in Oman instead of Turkey, according to sources.
Iran had reportedly contacted the foreign ministers of Turkey, Oman, and Qatar, requesting that the talks be held in Oman rather than Istanbul. The Trump administration accepted the request.
The negotiations are expected to be held on Friday in Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that Tehran seeks only bilateral discussions with the U.S., excluding any third-party involvement.
Diplomatic sources described the change of venue as a significant step forward, while analysts in the region view it as an important political development.
The move reflects continued efforts by both countries to resolve tensions and explore potential diplomatic engagement despite longstanding disputes. Observers say the shift to Oman could provide a neutral and more acceptable environment for talks, potentially paving the way for meaningful dialogue.
The outcome of these negotiations could have major implications for regional stability and international relations, as both Washington and Tehran continue to navigate complex political and security challenges.
