Vienna: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Vienna on Sunday for a two day official visit to Austria marking the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to the country in over 30 years. The last such visit was made by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1992.
PM Shehbaz Sharif was warmly received at Vienna International Airport where a ceremonial salute was presented by a contingent of the Austrian Armed Forces. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and other senior aides.
The visit comes at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. During the trip the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral meetings at the Federal Chancellery focusing on strengthening diplomatic ties, trade cooperation and regional security issues.
The government shared a video showing the delegation departing from PAF Base Lahore earlier in the day highlighting the significance of the visit for Pakistan Austria relations. Officials emphasized that PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit seeks to enhance political economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
