Government says cross-border strikes targeted militant camps linked to recent attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu
ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has confirmed conducting targeted, intelligence-based operations against hideouts of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) inside Afghanistan following a string of recent suicide attacks.
According to security sources, the action came after deadly incidents in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu, including the latest attack during the holy month of Ramadan in Bannu. Intelligence assessments indicated that the assaults were carried out on instructions from militant leadership and handlers operating from Afghan territory.
Officials said responsibility for the attacks was claimed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and its affiliates, as well as Islamic State – Khorasan Province, underscoring what authorities described as coordinated terrorist planning targeting Pakistan.
In response, Pakistan carried out precision strikes against seven militant camps and facilities linked to TTP, allied groups and ISIS-K in border regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier.
Islamabad urged the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan. It also called on the international community to play a constructive role in ensuring commitments under the Doha Agreement are upheld to safeguard regional and global stability.
