Deployment follows strategic defense agreement as regional tensions escalate in the Middle East
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has deployed a military contingent of approximately 13,000 troops along with 12 to 18 fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia as part of a strategic defense arrangement between the two countries, according to sources.
The deployment comes amid increasing tensions in the Middle East, prompting closer military coordination between Islamabad and Riyadh. Officials familiar with the development said the move is linked to a defense agreement signed last year aimed at strengthening joint security and rapid response capabilities.
Sources further indicated that Pakistan may expand its military presence in Saudi Arabia to at least 50,000 personnel, along with additional fighter jets, depending on evolving regional security dynamics.
The agreement underscores deep-rooted defense ties between the two countries, with Pakistan historically providing military training and support to Saudi forces. Analysts say the latest deployment reflects growing concerns over regional stability and the need for enhanced preparedness.
