ISLAMABAD (Yaseen Hashmi): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, scheduled from Jan. 19 to Jan. 23.
According to official sources, the prime minister is leading a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other senior government officials.
During the five-day visit, Prime Minister Sharif is expected to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government, leaders of international organizations, and senior global policymakers on the sidelines of the forum. The discussions will focus on economic cooperation, regional stability, climate resilience, and global development challenges.
A key highlight of the visit will be a Pakistan–WEF Business Roundtable, jointly organized by the Government of Pakistan and the World Economic Forum. The session will bring together executives of leading multinational companies who are exploring new investment opportunities in Pakistan or seeking to expand their existing ventures.
Officials say the prime minister will present Pakistan’s economic outlook, reform agenda, and investment-friendly policies to the global business community. The visit is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s international economic engagement and attracting foreign direct investment.
