Bangkok: (Yaseen Hashmi) Raja Muhammad Ishtiaq, Congress member, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and president of Rawalpindi District Football Association, arrived as the representative of Pakistan for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Executive Committee and Congress meeting.
The one day SAFF meeting will be held on Monday in Bangkok. Officials from member nations – India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and the Maldives – will discuss the development of football and cooperation in the region. Pakistan’s delegation will be led by PFF president Syed Mohsin Gilani and the member of the Congress, Raja Muhammad Ishtiaq.
Ishtiaq, a central stakeholder in the governance of football in Pakistan is expected to play an active role in the sessions. After the meeting, he will travel back to Pakistan on Tuesday.
The purpose of the SAFF meetings is to build closer contacts between the federations in South Asia, to be held regularly to promote the leading tours among South Asian countries and also to consider initiatives to improve the development of the sport. Pakistan’s involvement reflects their dedication to work regionally as well as in order to cultivate domestic football talent.
