Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir held high level talks with Libyan military leadership in Islamabad on Monday focusing on strengthening security cooperation and professional military relations between the two countries.
The discussions took place at General Headquarters (GHQ) during the visit of Commander in Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces Field Marshal Khalifa Abu al Qasim Haftar who was accompanied by his deputy Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.The Libyan delegation was warmly received by Pakistan’s senior military leadership.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed regional and international security developments and explored avenues for enhanced defence collaboration.The talks emphasized the importance of sustained military engagement cooperation in training programs and the exchange of professional expertise to strengthen institutional capacity.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding bilateral defence ties and expressed support for peace stability and institutional development in Libya. He underscored Pakistan’s willingness to share its experience in professional military training and defence cooperation.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere reflecting the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Libya and their armed forces.
Earlier upon arrival at Noor Khan Airbase Field Marshal Haftar was formally received by Field Marshal Asim Munir. The Libyan military chief also paid tribute to Pakistan’s fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial at GHQ.
