WEB DESK: (Click Pakistan) Pakistan’s military leadership reaffirmed its support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir, marking Kashmir Solidarity Day with calls for a peaceful resolution to the long-standing territorial dispute.
In a joint statement, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Hafiz Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu expressed solidarity with Kashmiris seeking self-determination. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris politically, morally, and diplomatically.
The military leaders accused Indian authorities of committing human rights violations in the disputed Himalayan region, including unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detentions. They also raised concerns about alleged demographic changes and political restrictions, describing them as violations of international law.
The statement said lasting peace in South Asia requires a just and peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. It also urged the international community to play a more active role in addressing the situation.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually in Pakistan to demonstrate support for Kashmiris. Rallies, public gatherings, and special events were held across the country and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as participants renewed their call for self-determination and highlighted ongoing tensions in the region.
