Pakistan Railways Announces Fare Increase After Diesel Price Hike

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in train fares following the recent rise in diesel prices, according to an official statement released by the railway spokesperson.

Under the new fare structure, ticket prices for economy class will increase by 5 percent, while fares for air-conditioned (AC) classes will rise by 10 percent. In addition freight train charges will see a 20 percent increase. The decision was taken due to the growing operational costs caused by higher fuel prices.

The spokesperson stated that the revised fares will come into effect from March 9 and will apply to all passenger trains as well as freight services operating across the country. Officials say the move is necessary to help the railway department manage rising fuel and maintenance expenses.

However, passengers who have already booked their tickets before the announcement will not be affected by the new fare adjustments. Their bookings will remain valid at the previously issued ticket prices.

Pakistan Railways operates one of the largest transportation networks in the country, connecting major cities and towns while also playing a vital role in cargo transportation.

Authorities said the department will continue monitoring fuel prices and operational costs while striving to maintain reliable and affordable rail services for passengers.
