Pakistan mounts decisive counter-offensive against Afghan Taliban along Pak-Afghan border, neutralizing multiple enemy positions
Islamabad: Pakistani security forces have successfully captured five Afghan posts along the border in Paktia, responding to unprovoked attacks by Afghan Taliban militants, officials said Thursday. The seized positions include two opposite Shawal, two across Angoor Adda, and one near Zarmalan, with Pakistan raising its national flag over each site. A Taliban terminal at Angoor Adda was also destroyed during the operation.
Under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, the Pakistan Army launched a coordinated counter-offensive employing air power, artillery, and drones. Security sources reported heavy Taliban losses, with 133 fighters killed and over 200 wounded. Key Taliban defense installations in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar were targeted, along with 27 posts destroyed and nine captured.
Officials stated that more than 36 enemy tanks, multiple artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers were neutralized, and several Taliban command centers were dismantled. Authorities emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend every inch of national territory and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding sovereignty.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry highlighted Pakistan’s preference for dialogue but underscored its readiness to use full military force if provoked. Operation Ghazab lil-Haq signals a clear message to hostile forces: any threat to Pakistan’s territorial integrity will face decisive retaliation.
