Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has announced that next Friday will be celebrated as a National Day of Gratitude in recognition of the successful ceasefire between the United States and Iran, facilitated through Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, ministers applauded the nation’s role and highlighted Pakistan’s contribution in brokering the agreement. Upon the Prime Minister’s arrival, cabinet members welcomed him with a standing ovation and applause.
During the briefing, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif acknowledged the critical role of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in mediating between the US and Iran. He praised their tireless efforts, noting that Field Marshal Munir maintained continuous communication with both American and Iranian leadership, often working through the night.
The Prime Minister said, “The entire nation deserves congratulations. Pakistan’s stature has risen internationally. Our political and military leadership acted with unity and sincerity, and Allah’s will made this achievement possible. The temporary ceasefire may become permanent, and Pakistan is playing a key role in promoting peace, preventing regional conflict, and saving lives.”
Shahbaz Sharif also thanked Saudi Arabia, China, and other Gulf countries for supporting Pakistan’s efforts, and noted that hosting US and Iranian delegations in Pakistan is an honor. He further expressed gratitude to former President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and his political mentors, including Nawaz Sharif, for their guidance and support throughout the process.
The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that Pakistan’s unity, faith, and diplomacy have set a historic example for future generations.
