ISLAMABAD: Pakistani citizens will now be able to travel to the United Kingdom using a digital e-visa system, according to a statement issued by the British High Commission.
The High Commission announced that the requirement for a physical visa sticker on passports has been removed for those applying for tourist, business, and family visit visas. However, visa applications will continue to be submitted online, and applicants must still visit visa centers for biometric verification.
Under the new system successful applicants will receive digital confirmation of their immigration status via email. Officials clarified that applicants will no longer need to return to visa centers to collect their passports after completing biometric procedures. The e visa system is expected to reduce risks associated with lost or damaged documents.
According to the High Commission, travelers will be able to verify their visa status using a share code. Authorities emphasized that there are no changes to visa processing times eligibility criteria, or application conditions.
Officials described the initiative as a step toward simplifying the visa process for Pakistani citizens, encouraging applicants to submit requests directly rather than relying on agents. The e visa system has already been implemented for student and work visas, while existing sticker visa holders will remain unaffected by the new policy.
