Police officer struck by heavy vehicle while helping at roadside incident near Abbottabad
ABBOTTABAD: A police inspector was killed in a tragic road accident near Abbottabad on the Hazara Motorway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after being struck by a speeding truck while he was assisting at the scene of an earlier traffic incident, officials said.
The officer, identified as Yasir Arafat, was providing help to commuters involved in a roadside situation when a fast-moving truck approached from behind and hit him, according to initial reports. He died on the spot due to severe injuries.
The incident occurred along the Hazara Motorway near Abbottabad, a key route connecting northern parts of the country with major urban centers. Authorities said the inspector was performing routine emergency assistance duties at the time of the accident.
Police and rescue teams immediately reached the location and shifted the body to a nearby medical facility for legal formalities. The driver of the truck was taken into custody, and an investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
