LAHORE: (Click Pakistan) Punjab political leader Atta Tarar on Monday attacked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) spokesperson Shafee Jan over his comments on television saying he was doing empty talk and he needed to imitate how the Punjab was governed.
In an interview with the media, Tarar claimed that Shafee Jan frequently makes provocative statements and employs hyperboles on live television. I ask him to come to Punjab and have a look at how we are doing in governance and wellbeing of the people, he added.
Tarar comments in the context of increasing political tension between the provincial governments of Punjab and KPK, whose sides use insults against each other about the governance, law enforcement, and development programs. The leader of Punjab pointed out that instead of knocking Punjab, KPK officials would learn a lesson by watching the way Punjab runs its administration.
Shafee Jan has also been on TV quite often on the national television defending the KPK policies and answering the criticism of the opposition figures. The remarks made by Tarar will only fuel more political arguments in the social media and news outlets.
Political observers indicate that the exchange underscores the current move towards inter-provincial rivalry in Pakistan particularly between Punjab and KPK that is usually translated into statements and televised debates.
