The Prince and Princess of Wales have said they are deeply concerned by the latest revelations linked to Jeffrey Epstein marking their first public response as scrutiny of the Royal Family intensifies.
In a brief statement released by Kensington Palace a spokesperson said Prince William and Princess Catherine were focused on the victims following the release of new documents in the United States related to the late sex offender. Although the statement did not directly name Epstein or Andrew Mountbatten Windsor it was widely seen as a significant shift amid renewed public attention.
The remarks came as further allegations emerged involving Andrew increasing pressure on the Royal Family’s handling of the scandal. The statement was issued ahead of Prince William’s official visit to Saudi Arabia, with royal aides understood to be keen to prevent the controversy from overshadowing the trip.
Public anger remains evident with King Charles III recently heckled during a visit to Lancashire over his knowledge of Andrew’s association with Epstein. Andrew has acknowledged his friendship with Epstein but has consistently denied wrongdoing and reached an out of court settlement in 2022 without admitting liability.
The release of new US documents, including photographs and emails has intensified calls for the monarchy to fully distance itself from Andrew, despite earlier steps to remove him from royal duties titles, and public life.
